Choose the game you actually want to play. CS2, the older CS:GO client, Classic Offensive and Counter-Strike 1.6 have different installation routes, settings and server requirements. A guide for one is not automatically an instruction for another.
Start with your game
| Game | Start here | Most useful when⦠|
|---|---|---|
| Counter-Strike 2 | Settings, performance and current updates | You are playing CS2 and want a clearer, more consistent setup |
| CS:GO | The older Valve game and its Steam entry | You want to return to CS:GO or join a legacy community |
| Classic Offensive | Project history, releases and compatibility | You are choosing a mod package or checking an old installation guide |
| Counter-Strike 1.6 | Steam setup and community play | You want the original 1.6 experience |
Fix a specific problem
If CS2 feels slow, begin with FPS and stutter diagnosis. If you are looking for the older game in Steam, use the CS:GO installation guide. If several Classic Offensive downloads look different, read the version explanation before choosing one.
