Cache returned to CS2 on April 28, 2026, joining Competitive, Casual, Deathmatch and Retakes. This was its return to the game; its move into the Active Duty pool came later, in July.
What changed on Cache?
The first follow-up patches increased the bomb explosion radius, improved visibility around the A-site e-box and adjusted the Checkers entrance. Valve fixed wallbangs, missing footsteps, gaps in geometry and places where a dropped bomb could become unreachable.
Work continued on May 7, 14, 18 and 20. The updates refined player and grenade collision, corrected material sounds and added grating to selected windows so they would block bullets. For anyone rebuilding old grenade lineups, collision changes are a reason to test them again in the current map.
Grenades, boosts and spectating
The May 14 patch removed a case where a grenade throw could be cancelled late in the pin-pull animation. On May 18, Valve improved jump-throw consistency and the accuracy of the jump-throw preview camera. It also added a setting that applies ladder-style inaccuracy to players boosted on a stack of at least two players by default.
Spectator fixes addressed stuck X-ray outlines, damage effects and post-processing when changing targets. Elsewhere, NIGHTMODE II music kits arrived on May 7, alongside animation polish and adjustments to Deathmatch scoring and XP limits.
