The October 15 CS2 update focuses on watching demos and a handful of technical fixes. Valve adds a download progress bar, changes camera controls and lets viewers use free and chase cameras while a demo is paused.
More control over demo playback
Demo and replay downloads now show their progress. Camera movement uses a click-and-drag control scheme, while free and chase cameras remain available during a pause. Valve also fixed minor issues when jumping to another position in a demo file.
For players reviewing a round, the paused-camera change allows a closer look at the action without resuming playback.
Round backups and AUG animations
Round backup files now require the game server startup flag -allow_round_backup_files. Server operators who use round backups should check their startup configuration.
Standing and crouched AUG reload animations have been adjusted to better match the new reload duration. This follows the earlier reload-time change; this patch note describes an animation adjustment.
Other changes
Allowed radio commands now have an explicit list.
CS2 Workshop Tools gains the
toolsskybox_occludertool material. The Vulkan renderer receives stability improvements.
