The second half of July brought follow-up work on the new C4 system and the community map rotation. Valve also closed a bug affecting VACnet processing.
C4 interacts with smoke and fire
On July 21, the bomb explosion began interacting with smoke grenade clouds and Molotov or incendiary fire. The health-bar damage preview now appears when the bomb becomes audible. Both changes followed the C4 rework introduced with Premier Season 5.
Map refreshes
The July 15 update refreshed Fachwerk, Boulder, Shelter and El Dorado from the Workshop. On July 21, Fachwerk, Boulder and Debris received new versions; July 29 brought further updates to Boulder, Fachwerk and Shelter. The July 15 patch also included stability and security fixes.
VACnet and tournament items
On July 29, Valve fixed a bug that let malicious players avoid VACnet processing. The notes describe a specific fix, rather than announcing a new anti-cheat system or a ban-wave total.
The same patch added Ranked Series stickers for Cologne 2026 and announced September 29 as the shop’s purchase deadline. It also fixed missing Collection Catalog XP for some Dead Hand Collection users and scripts failing to load in tools mode until manually recompiled.
