Premier Season 5 began on July 8, 2026, with Cache replacing Overpass in Active Duty. The update also rebuilt how C4 explosions deal damage on official defusal maps.
A different way to escape the bomb
C4 damage now uses simulation data baked into each map. A shockwave spreads outward instead of applying all damage instantly. Valve explained that it dissipates around corners and does not pass through walls, making the route away from the bomb relevant to survival. The health bar provides a preview of the damage.
A July 9 hotfix removed the map-wide minimum of one damage point, corrected calculations near boundaries between map areas and increased the force applied to dropped weapons.
New maps beyond Premier
Boulder, Fachwerk and Shelter joined Competitive, Casual and Deathmatch. Wingman received Debris and El Dorado. Warden, Stronghold, Alpine and Sanctum left the available game modes. Dust II and Inferno also received small geometry and clipping fixes.
Armory refresh and performance
The Armory gained the Spy Tech and Arabesque weapon collections, plus Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing stickers. Train 2025, Sport & Field, Sugarface 2 and Elemental Craft left the Armory.
Valve reduced the performance cost of displaying the scoreboard, added half-degree sticker rotation steps and updated the engine to a newer Source 2 version. The patch notes do not quantify the performance improvement.
